What Coaching is not …
Coaching is not:
· Therapy or counseling
Coaching is for people who are basically well adjusted and emotionally healthy but want to make changes in their lives. It is designed to address issues the person being coached would like to consider that include (but are not limited to) career development, relationship enhancement, spiritual growth, lifestyle management, life balance, decision-making, and achieving short and long-term goals.
·
Mainly focused on the past
Coaching is oriented to helping clients look at their present and supporting changes that will result in creating the future they desire.
·
A quick fix for what is broken in your life
Coaching is a thoughtful process of discovery that
works towards enriching lives and reaching goals the clients have
established.
·
A replacement for professional medical, legal or mental health services
Coaching is not for those situations that require the services of someone trained in a specific area of expertise, such as a doctor, psychologist or lawyer.
·
Passive
A coach does not tell clients what to do but
facilitates and supports them in their journey to their future.
·
A single issue concentration
Coaching is concerned with the whole person so clients
can work on all aspects of their lives as they desire.
·
Location specific
Coaching is as effective by phone as it is in person,
so you can choose a coach from anywhere in the United States (or in the
world) and know you will receive the excellent coaching you deserve.
“Coaching
focuses on future possibilities, not past mistakes.”
